Fred was eight years old when he first heard his grandfather play the trumpet, he was instantly inspired.
Although he chose a career as a Professional Boxer, his mind remained distracted by the soul of trumpet.
So in 2002 with lifelong friend, Laurent Lurkin, his musical journey began.
That same years, during a live performance of The Skatalites, Fred found himself close to the stage, face to face with Kevin "KB" Batchelor, his musical icon. KB's performance and skillful trumpet ensembles inspired him. Months later, at another Skatalites performance, Kevin "KB" Batchelor pulled Fred on to the stage
realizing one of Fred's greatest dreams - performing with The Skatalites.
In 2004 Fred paved the way for his first band called "Magwale Freedom", and produced their debut CD,
"Arretez Vos Machines".
In 2006 Fred created the very successful Ska bandn "Freddy Loco", dedicated to the traditional brass sound of Ska & Rocksteady.
In 2007 Fred travelled to NYC to collaborate with Sidney Mills (Steel Pulse) on the start of Freddy Loco's first album TABA (2007). The album also featured the masterful trumpet skills of Kevin "KB" Batchelor.
Their second album, SATELLITE (Megalith Records 2009), mixed by the well-known Ska Producer, Victor Rice, featured elite Ska musicians such as Rocksteady Freddie (NYSJE), Kevin "KB" Batchelor (The Skatalites, Steel Pulse,...) and Cedric I'm Brooks (The Skatalites, The Wailers,...).
Freddy Loco also recorded a cover of "The Return of the Los Palmas 7" from the tribute album of Madness
on Big 8 Records.
2011 with the help of Fred " Rocksteady Freddie" Reiter (NYSJE) as artistic director, they
release their fourth CD "Round 4" with also featured Kevin "KB" Batchelor. Rocking Records (DE) and Megalith Records (USA) released the CD.
Since 2004, Freddy Loco has performed over 350 shows throughout Belgium, France, Luxembourg, England,
Germany, Spain, Holland and The United States. They have produced several tours with
Kevin "KB" Batchelor and Fred "Rocksteady Freddie" Reiter as guest stars. Currently, they are producing this promising new tour.
